Take Out Plastic
Welcome to Take Out Plastic, a community movement aimed at reducing single-use plastic in Hong Kong. We believe that small changes in our daily habits can make a big impact on the environment. Join us in our mission to reduce, refuse, and recycle all plastic products.
Hong Kong is struggling with the increasing amount of plastic waste and therefore, they are trying to enhance their domestic recycling capacity. Although Hong Kong's overall recycling rate is 30%, it is still behind Singapore, which has an overall recycling rate of 61%. However, Hong Kong's plastic recycling rate of 14% is better than Singapore's 7%. Apart from improving domestic recycling, Hong Kong is also taking steps to reduce the amount of plastic and other waste generated. One of the effective methods used in the past to create public awareness and bring about a change in behavior is the implementation of financial incentives such as the upcoming waste charging scheme to curb waste.
